Learning, Inc.

Learning, Inc. has been reaching out to students through our various programs for over 25 years. We began in April, 1989, with computer classes and foreign language immersion classes for both children and adults. With a desire to meet the needs in our community, we grew over time and evolved into the learning center that we are today. Our mission has always been, and remains, to help our students by sharing the joy of learning and providing the highest quality education at the lowest possible prices. We now teach many subjects, including reading, math, science, study skills, and standardized test preparation, as well as private music lessons in all instruments and voice.

Academically, our teachers help students who have either fallen behind or need to fill in some of the missing building blocks in their foundational skills, while also challenging those students who want to move ahead. We find nothing more rewarding than helping students to realize that they can now understand concepts that they had once given up on. This, in turn, helps them to find the confidence they need to move forward. We have seen countless students, once they get the help they need, start to love the very subjects that they had disliked or even dreaded.

Because Learning, Inc. appreciates the importance of music in a student’s education, we have made music lessons a major part of the programs we offer. While we teach theory, technique, and reading music to all of our music students, we go beyond this, seeking to uncover the student’s interests, passion and creativity. Learning to play an instrument is fun, but, more than that, science has shown that actively learning to play an instrument is also great for developing the brain and can help a child’s academic achievement. Nina Kraus, director of Northwestern University’s Academic Neuroscience Laboratory has said, “Making music matters, because it is only through the active generation and making of sound that music can rewire the brain.” She also says, “Find the kind of music they love, good teachers, an instrument they like. Making music should be something that children enjoy and will want to keep doing for many years.”

Proud to be a part of the Lansdowne community, Learning, Inc. is a member of the Lansdowne Business and Professional Association, and enjoys taking part in community activities here. We look forward to continuing to serve Lansdowne, its neighboring communities, and the tri-state area.
